Huntington and of Shmuel N. Eisenstadt and, on the other hand, some recent trends in the reflection on global relations and the role of religions and civilizations. The original concepts of Clash of civilizations and Multiple modernities have, indeed, originated very different ways of thinking the nature and even the possibility of some kind of relation between religions and cultures. Specifically, it’s of particular interest the nexus that can be traced between this two approaches and two different developments of secularization theory: desecularization and the postsecular. A structural coherence between, on the one hand, conceptions of civilization derived from Huntington and a desecularization approach and, on the other hand, the multiple modernites approach to civilizations and the postsecular, can be clearly seen. And different trajectories, derived from this approaches, emerge in the contemporary debates on the future of global society between conflict and dialogue.
ER -
