L'AUTEUR Jean-François Bayart est directeur de recherche au CNRS, au CERI-SciencesPo. Sa démarche de sociologie historique du politique l’a amené récemment à travailler sur les sociétés étrangères, notamment en prenant en compte la profondeur des sociétés pour analyser les changements politiques et les restaurations autoritaires. Parmi ses derniers ouvrages, L'Illusion identitaire(Fayard, 1996), Le Gouvernement du monde. Une Critique politique de la globalisation (Fayard, 2004) et L’Islam républicain. Ankara, Téhéran, Dakar (Albin Michel, 2010).

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jean-François Bayart is a research director at the CNRS, at CERI-SciencesPo. His approach to historical sociology of politics has recently led him to work on foreign societies, particularly taking into account the depth of societies to analyse political changes and authoritarian restorations. Among his latest works are: The Illusion of Cultural Identity (Hurst & The University of Chicago Press, 2005), Global Subjects (Polity Press, 2007) and L’Islam républicain. Ankara, Téhéran, Dakar (Albin Michel, 2010).
