Abstract

Using a social and interdisciplinary approach, the study identifies the central role of public space in supporting post-earthquake social reconstruction processes in the international context through a critical comparison of procedural and design models in Italy and Türkiye. The applied mixed methods methodology enhances qualitative aspects by integrating normative analysis, empirical observation, and interviews. The research identifies proximity, inclusiveness, and adaptability as requirements for the quality of temporary public space, translated into documents that can be integrated with current Italian procedures, with possible applications in other at-risk contexts.
