We are pleased to announce the publication of Issue 20(1) of Acta Herpetologica! This latest issue features 7 original research papers and 4 short notes, all contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge on the biology, ecology, and conservation of Amphibians and Reptiles.

In the first section of the new Issue, the full papers dive into a fascinating array of topics, from range extensions and ecological modeling for Kurixalus inexpectatus, to the role of artificial rearing in boosting the reproductive success of Emys orbicularis in its northernmost habitats. You'll also find a unique comparative study of female genitalia in Old World snakes using silicone modeling, insights into how water volume and diet affect the development of Bufo gargarizans larvae, and an exploration of life history consistency in Brazilian anurans under different rainfall regimes. Additional contributions include new ecological data on the elusive Micryletta menglienica from Vietnam, and a novel method to assess the body condition of Speleomantes cave salamanders using digital imagery.

The short notes in this issue offer concise yet valuable contributions to herpetological research. Topics include a clarification on maxillary dentition in the Western whip snake, distinguishing heterodonty from true opisthoglyphy, and a home range analysis of Teratoscincus roborowskii using VHF telemetry in China’s Turpan Basin. Also featured are an unusual observation of a land leech (Haemadipsa zeylanica) parasitizing the Indian golden-backed frog (Indosylvirana indica) in Agumbe, India, and a targeted screening for the pathogenic fungus Batrachochytrium salamandrivorans in a peripheral population of Golden Alpine Salamanders, shedding light on disease surveillance at distributional edges.
