«Caro Franco, devo dirti molte cose». Carteggio tra Franco Fortini e Walter Siti (1978-1993)

Abstract

The paper presents the unpublished correspondence between Franco Fortini and Walter Siti. The exchange reveals a relationship marked by sincere friendship and mutual intellectual respect, emerging from a dialogue between two of the most significant Italian thinkers of the late Twentieth century. The letters address a wide range of topics. The two authors engage in discussions on Marxism, prompted by their readings of Althusser; they exchange critical perspectives on their respective writings; and they offer an analysis of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s work and persona, highlighting the fracture between his public image and private self. The correspondence concludes with personal reflections on the socio-political context of the 1980s and 1990s.
