Abstract
Div. 2.41, in which Cicero’s character declares the gods’ existence with special assertiveness, can be the point of depart for the analysis of the difficult relation between the New Academic dialectic, naturally bent on refutation and avoidance of assertiveness, and some Ciceronian positive statements about the gods and their existence.
