Abstract

The study of Martial’s and Statius’s texts about Domitian’s measures against the creation of eunuchs and against child prostitution shows that Flavian court poetry has no interest in identifying the exact historical moment in which these measures are taken but rather aims to celebrate the permanence of their positive effects on contemporary society.
