Die <em>Königsreden</em> Dions von Prusa und der <em>Panegyricus</em> des Plinius: Möglichkeiten und Grenzen eines Vergleichs

Abstract

It has repeatedly been stated that there are various striking similarities between Pliny’s Panegyric and Dio’s Kingship Orations. However, the difference in genre and the difficulty to establish a concrete background for the genesis of Dio’s four orations should bar hasty conclusions on mutual dependence. Even such seemingly apparent parallels as the cri­tique directed at flattery and the words commilito / συστρατιώτης reveal as many differences as similarities.
