In this paper I offer a translation with a brief commentary on two epigrams of Philodemus (1 and 14 Sider). My aim is to contribute to a poetic reading of the epigrams that pays attention to the ‘whole’ and highlights the central ‘theme’ of each poem according to the artistic inten¬tions of the author.
