Abstract

The article examines a recent book by Idalgo Baldi on the transmission of the Hymns of Synesius of Cyrene. The main points of the book are discussed, and a couple of new interpretations are offered, viz. an alternative explanation of the transmission of Hymn 7 and of an intriguing phrase of Synesius in the Epistle 154. The second part deals with the main cruces of the Hymns and proposes a few conjectures.
