Abstract
A philological study of fr. 43 Pf. allows a better understanding of Callimachus’ elegy on the story of Zancle and other cities of Sicily, as told by the Muse Clio at the poet’s request, as well as of the structure of Callimachus’ Aitia, at least in its first two books, conceived as a symposium with the Muses. So Callimachus can be considered one of the first authors who used the symposium as a frame for historical and literary questions.
