Abstract

The author of Atheniensium Respublica, transmitted among Xenophon’s works, employs a language, which is neither rhetorical-political nor analytical-descriptive. He fluctuates between a demonstrative approach and formulaic repetitions echoing religious language. His presentation proceeds in a straight flow, with no implication of parallel levels, and free from rhetorical figures. This work has no parallel in any other prose work from the V century B.C.
