Abstract

New edition (with photo) of P.Oxy. 1823 (tragic fragment) with a new reading: μητέρα insted of πατέρα at line 16. The fragment may belong to a late Euripidean (or post-Euripidean) tragedy, as the analysis of the language suggests. The new reading casts some light on the plot of the drama, which could be about Alcmeon searching for his children.
