Abstract

In this passage, the genuine text is preserved by the manuscripts BT. Hippotales asks Βούλει οὖν ἕπεσθαι, ἵνα καὶ ἴδῃς τοὺς ὄντας αὐτόθι; (“Will you follow me, and see those who are there?”), and Socrates replies Αὐτοῦ πρῶτον ἡδέως ἀκούσαιμ᾿ ἄν, ἐπὶ τῷ καὶ εἴσειμι. Καὶ τίς ὁ καλός; (“I prefer to stay here first, and listen: then I will enter. And tell me, who is the handsome one?”).
