Discussion of the evidence suggesting the identification of Nonnus of Panopolis, the author of both the Dionysiaca and the Paraphrase of St John’s Gospel, with Nonnus, bishop of Edessa and champion of orthodoxy at the Council of Chalcedon, who is also credited with the conversion of Pelagia.
