Abstract
While Pind. O. 7.35 seems to mean that Zeus poured a rain of gold on Rhodes at the birth of Athena, lines 50 ff. say that the golden rain happened after Helios’ sons accomplished their sacrifice. The alleged inconsistency may be explained once we realize that ἁνίκα at line 35 should be taken in the genral meaning of ‘at the age of’, rather than ‘at the moment of’.
