Abstract

Discussion of several passage from Plutarch’s works, especially De E Delph. 20. His conception of Zeus, eternal, almighty, and benevolent, comes quite close to Christian monotheism, but Plutarch does not disdain traditional mythology: his aim on the one side is to dispel superstition, on the other to avoid atheism.
