Abstract

At Alcm. fr. 30.1-3 Page, the ordinal – according to the ancient Indo-European usage – introduces the last element of a series: τέταρτος refers to the four seasons of the year, that Alcman prefers to the older division in just three seasons (alluded to by τρίτος).
