Abstract

Germanicus’ epigram on Hector’s tomb (AL 708 Riese2) is a Latin version of the Greek original transmitted as AP 9.387, probably written by either Germanicus himself or a poet from his circle. It is just one of the many variations on the theme of Rome as Troy’s heir, without further political intentions.
