Abstract
The statement found in Pausanias 1.11.6, namely that the conquest of Corcyra in 295 BC was Pyrrhus’ first military success as a king, is more plausible and convincing than Plutarch’s version at Pyrrh. 9.1, according to which he received the island from his wife Lanassa, Agathocles’ daughter.
