Die Reliefs von S. Omobono: Zuordnungen archäologischer Überreste und ihr Aussagewert für die althistorische Forschung

Abstract

The widespread interpretation of the frieze of St. Omobono’s (now in the Capitoline Museum and in the Kunsthistorisches Museum of Vienna) as part of a victory monument of Sulla proves ill-founded. The frieze was rather connected with a ceremony in honor of the gods as saviors of the Roman state and authors of its victories.
