Abstract

An analysis of the extant sources proves that Artemius’ execution took place at Antioch in the early autumn of 362 AD. Ammianus’ report (22.11.2-11) tries to justify Julian’s decision, even altering the chronology as far as the revolt at Alexandria is concerned.
