Abstract

In Astydamas TrGF 60 F 2, the care Hector takes not to scare Astyanax, as he once did, is a witty allusion to the well-known scene of Book 6 of the Iliad. Such an interpretation is consistent with what we know about the reception of Homer in the 4th century BC.
