Abstract

A Latin funerary inscription of the early Imperial age, preserved in the Velia antiquarium, testifies to the Roman habit of treating a young slave as a kind of mascotte. Both the young man buried at Velia and Seneca’s delicium (ep. 12.3) were named Felicio.
