Abstract
Alfieri appears to have disliked Aeschylus’ dramas during his youth, when he did not master Greek well. In the last years of his life, the tragic poet gained a deeper knowledge of the Greek language, and his annotations on a translation of the Prometheus feature frequent quotations of the Greek text and also of the scholia.
