Abstract
Schol. Il. 10.435 mentions Rhesus’ mares, stolen by Odysseus and Diomedes, who have been informed about them by Dolon, as a redressing of a former defeat suffered by the Achaeans. The story belongs in a particular typology of popular tales, as established by Propp: a heroic search follows a former lack which is then ‘liquidated’.Metrics
