Abstract
In Met. 1.588-746 Ovid reworked and expanded his own earlier rendering of the Ios myth found in Epist. 14.85-108. In the Metamorphoses line 1.638 should not be deleted. The Metamorphoses passage was the model for Orpheus’ song in Val. Fl. 4, where influence of Vergil can be detected as well.
