To obtain what Sophocles wrote it is necessary to change the traditional 1140 kai; nu'n to kaiv nun (“and also”), and 1149 pai', Dio;" gevneqlon profavnhq(i) to pai' Diov", gevneqlon profavnhq(i) (accusative of specification): the metre is a trochaic pentemimeres plus a choriamb, like the incipit of Simonides, 579 Page.
