Abstract

A good analysis of the Prologue shows that the author, the jurist Valerius Maecianus, wrote this treatise just after the year 139 AD, in order to give to the young Marcus Aurelius didactic information about the assis distributio (the division of money and weight). Of this matter he presents rhetorically the importance and distinguishes parts, terminology, characters.
