Abstract

Servius and Servius Danielis often deal with mythographical issues: besides satisfying their exegetical aims, the Vergilian commentators also collect details aimed at didactic and learned goals. Many scholia pay close attention to the reliability of myths, a question based on the contrast between fabula and veritas, and on Aristotle’s criterion of verisimilitude.
