Postille di Bentley a Giovenale e agli Scolii di Giovenale

Abstract

Edition of Bentley’s marginal annotations on Juvenal and the scholia in Iuvenalem vetustiora from a copy of Commelinus’ edition of 1590, preserved in the British Library (685.d.4), with explanatory notes. The critical standard of the few anno-tations is high: Housman’s remark that, if Bentley had prepared an edition of Juve-nal, he would have solved many textual problems, seems to be a likely supposition.
