Abstract
The lyric section of the parodos of Aristophanes’ Plutus, traditionally explained as a parody of Philoxenos of Cythera’s dithyramb, contains a joke of literary references between Philoxenos and Euripides, that here are associated because of their transformation of the mytihcal character of Polyphemus. In particular, the reference to Euripides is found at line 291 in the allusion to the dance.Metrics
