Abstract

This paper collates and discusses two translations of the Thespesios myth in Plutarch’s De sera numinis vindicta (563B-568A): one by G. Xylander (Basel 1570) and the other by J. Amyot (Paris 1572). In particular, the author focuses on the different ways the two famous scholars chose to interpret certain difficult passages in that text.
