Sulla lacuna del canto Z (vv. 162-163) della Parafrasi di Nonno

Abstract

Reading the sixth chapter of Nonnus’Paraphrase, we note a very long omission after verse 162. This article aims to clarify, on the basis of a philological and theological analysis, the reason for the existence of this omission. Although the common opinion is that Nonnus simply neglected lines 41 to 54 of book 6, what really happened was a simple jump from like to like, witness the fact that John 6.54 also ends with the same phrase as John 6.40, namely “... at the last day”.
