Abstract
On the basis of the analysis of Aristophanes, Clouds 53-55, Ecclesiazusae 877-883, and Plato Comicus, fr. 43 K.-A., the author proves that the word ἀργός may assume, in comic language, the meaning of “sexually inactive”, later attested also in Alciphron 2.7, and in Strato AP 12.240.
