Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present a research project on Chinese teaching. The paper focuses on the training of professional translators and interpreters in highly specialized fields. It also meets specific requirements set both by Chinese patients living in Italy and Italian health care providers. Following a brief introduction outlining the reasons why we chose the medical field, the paper will discuss (a) the methodological criteria adopted for the construction of Chinese-Italian ad hoc corpora in the medical subfields chosen for the project (pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium); (b) the creation of bilingual terminological records for teaching purposes; and (c) the production of different kinds of classroom exercises and activities and their validation. Finally, the paper will present some considerations for the future development of the project itself.
