Attraverso due contributi della più recente cinematografia, Catfish (2010) e Her (2013), siamo invitati a riflettere su cosa significhi costruire un legame online con un altro essere umano o con una macchina dotata di intelligenza superiore. In uno scenario scevro da atteggiamenti tecnofili o tecnofobi, la riflessione sul ruolo che la tecnologia svolge nella nostra vita affettiva può contribuire ad accrescere la consapevolezza di chi siamo e di cosa vogliamo diventare.

The widespread diffusion of social network sites and network technologies in the construction of online relationships poses a set of questions about the nature of our affective and romantic relationships, about what we expect from them and about how these relationships affect our daily lives. Two very recent contributions from the film industry, Catfish (2010) and Her (2013), are particularly interesting. In such films, we are invited to reflect upon what building an online relationship with another human being or with an intelligent computer means. In a scenario free of technophilia and technophobia attitudes, the reflection on the role played by technology on our affective lives may help increase our consciousness of who we are and who we want to become.
