Abstract
The article examines Franco Fortini’s work as an editorial consultant at Einaudi, focusing on the relationship between critical analysis and editorial strategy. Through the study of the Pareri editoriali, it argues that Fortini’s key critical principles remain consistent with his public essays, while assuming a different function in the publishing context. Here, criticism operates within institutional and strategic constraints, shaping decisions about catalogues and cultural positioning. The evaluations of works by Arnold Hauser, Maurice Blanchot and Jacques Derrida show how editorial judgment becomes a testing ground for competing interpretative models.
