Abstract

«Ragionamenti» (1955-1957), animated by an editorial committee in which Fortini played a central role, represents one of the most significant experiences among the cultural periodicals of the 1950s. Situated at the intersection of Marxist dissent, literary criticism and political commitment, the Milanese publication found itself at the heart of the debate that arose in the wake of the “unforgettable” year 1956. Fortini emerged as a key point of reference for the philosopher Edgar Morin, editor of the “twin” journal «Arguments» (1956-1962), with which a collaborative project was initiated. Through ten unpublished letters, it is possible to reconstruct the mechanisms governing the construction of the issues and the selection of essays, thereby illustrating an editorial agenda that was strongly engagé and profoundly shaped by the events of that period.
