Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, and it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Accessible and inclusive publishing: The manuscript adheres to requirements outlined in the "The Creating Accessible Content Guide"

Manuscript Template

1 - The manuscript for the publication must be sent exclusively in OpenOffice, RTF, or Microsoft Word format (e.g. .doc or .docx). The manuscript must be formatted according to the template at the bottom of these guidelines. The author can use the template by writing directly or he can copy and paste from other text files. The contributions, subdivided into paragraphs and sub-paragraphs, numbered progressively according to ordinal classification, must not normally exceed 25 folders, including abstract, references list, tables, and images.

Submissions to Aestimum are made using the FUP website. Registration and access are available at https://oaj.fupress.net/index.php/ceset/login

If you have not yet registered on Aestimum website, please follow the instructions below:

  • Click “Register” and your account has been created.
  • In the following page, click on “Edit My Profile”.
  • Select the “Roles” panel and register yourself as Author.
  • Click “Save” and you are enabled to submit your manuscript.

Submitting an article to Aestimum

  • Please log on to Aestimum at https://oaj.fupress.net/index.php/ceset/login  with your username and password.
  • Click on the “New submission” link.
  • Select the appropriate section for your submission.
  • Complete all fields and browse to upload your article.
  • Submit your manuscript.

The manuscript must include a title, an abstract (max 1000 characters, spaces included), the JEL codes, three keywords, the main text, the references list, all images (include relevant captions), all tables (including titles, description, footnotes) and appendices. Images, tables and mathematical equations must be reported at the end of the manuscript.

The authors have to indicate the position in which images, tables and mathematical equations must be inserted, including the related captions written in the same format as the body of the text.

The tables require the Word or Excel format.

The mathematical equations have to be numbered progressively in square brackets on the right side.

Any references to authors must be deleted to ensure anonymity during the review process. Aestimum publishes works in English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these), except for those submitted for the “Agricultural law” section, which may also be written in Italian.

The Authors must upload a title page. The title page includes the title of the manuscript; the author names and affiliations indicating the corresponding author.

2 - The manuscripts submitted will be sent to a minimum of two anonymous reviewers, selected by the Aestimum Editorial Board. The authors could insert in the “Comments for the Editor” box the name and email of potential reviewers who are appropriate for the paper.

3 - The footnotes in the text must contain explanations and not bibliographic references and be inserted at the bottom of the page. The numbering of the notes must be progressive.

4 - All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references following the text of the manuscript. In the text refer to the author's name (without initial) and year of publication with the number of pages (in the case of citations), according to the following examples:

5 – Images must be uploaded also as separated files in step 4 of the submission process into “Upload supplementary file”.

Images must respect the format of the Journal page (mm 170 × 240).  Images must be added in colour but will be published in black-and-white in the print version. It is, therefore, necessary that in their transformation from colour to black-and-white the information reported in them are legible.

The images require the TIFF or EPS format (with a resolution of 300 DPI), for the EPS charts the author must add the original spreadsheet (Excel or other).

6 - When the article is written in Italian (only for the “Agricultural Law” section), it must include the abstract, title and keywords in English.

Special Issue - Incontro Studio CeSET 2023

This Special Issue is open to the submission of papers presented at the XLIX Conference of CeSET (November 30 - December 1, 2023; Padova, Italy).

Manuscript should be submitted online at https://oaj.fupress.net/index.php/ceset/about/submissions by registering and logging in. In the submission process, authors should select “Special Issue - Incontro Studio CeSET 2023” from the drop-down menu “Section” at the step “1. Start”. The deadline for manuscript submission is July 30th, 2024. All papers will undergo an initial screening by the Editors before be sent for double-blind peer-review. Following peer-review and revision, accepted manuscripts will be posted online with a DOI prior the publication. Please follow the Authors’ guidelines before submitting a manuscript. Submitted articles must not have been previously published, nor should they be under consideration for publication anywhere else while under review for this journal.

The accepted articles will be published in a special section dedicated to the Conference, starting from volume 84 (June 2024), in the ordinary volume of Aestimum.

Special Issue - Visions of the future in real estate appraisal

Deadline for manuscript submissions: July 31st, 2022.

This special issue has two objectives: on the one hand, we seek contributions taking stock on most recent advances in real estate appraisal and on methodological and practical challenges posed by the emerging issues of big data in real estate sector. On the other hand, we seek case studies identifying factors that still slow down the diffusion of innovative valuation methods and best practices among professional appraisers.

The special issue is open to the submission of novel and high-quality research contributions, welcoming both methodological and empirical studies.

The scope of the issue encompasses, but is not restricted to, the following topics:

  • Deterministic vs. stochastic approaches in real estate appraisal;
  • Market Comparison Approach (MCA) and other market-oriented methods;
  • Income approaches, diachronic estimates and cyclic capitalization;
  • Hedonic models in real estate appraisal;
  • Hierarchical and spatial models in real estate appraisal;
  • Machine learning e artificial neural networks in real estate appraisal;
  • Automated valuation models;
  • Mass appraisal techniques;
  • Limits and opportunities of valuation standards.
