Abstract
This article analyses the strategies and editorial processes that poets used during the 1980s to affirm, consolidate or recapitulate their public identity. A complex dynamic emerges, in which, on the one hand, the author imposes an interpretation of his work, claiming a determined position within the literary field. On the other hand, the response of the public and the critics exerts a clearly visible influence on the poet, shaping his physiognomy and orienting his choices. In particular, the trajectories of the newcomers of the 1980s (Salvia, De Angelis, Magrelli, Pusterla) will be examined, each time showing the tools, promotion strategies and editorial directives followed to define their identity as poets.
