Abstract

The anthology Poeti latini tradotti da scrittori italiani contains four passages of the Georgics translated by Roberto Roversi. The translator mainly uses a long verse whose analysis leads to grouping four hexametric forms. In the perspective that considers the verses accentuatively, the hexametricity is constituted by the six ictus. The presence of verses on six ictus is indeed significant. The hexametric nature of these Georgics is therefore guaranteed, in addition to the clause, on the one hand by their continuity with the hexameter in the forms of the Odi barbare, and on the other by their accentual profile. Hence the hypothesis that counting ictus could also be useful in evaluating the metricity of the long verse in Roversi’s own poems.
