Abstract
The essay explores the relationship between Roberto Roversi and Vittorio Sereni. It examines their intellectual connections, including their collaborations in journals they directed (such as «Rendiconti» and «Questo e altro», as well as «Paragone» – and their editorial interactions. In his role as literary director at Mondadori, Sereni pursued, albeit unsuccessfully, the idea of bringing Roversi into the Milanese publishing house. The analysis then shifts to their respective views on the role of the writer and literature, as well as their expressive strategies. The study reveals a dynamic in which mutual personal and literary respect does not preclude recognition of the profound differences between the two authors, who represent opposing poles within the progressive cultural milieu of mid-to-late twentieth-century Italy.
