Abstract

The historical heritage of Finale Emilia was significantly and tragically affected by the earthquake of May 2012. The demage has mainly injured the landmarks of the historic center: in Town Hall, the Castel of the Fortnesses and Tower of Modena, has become the symbol of this dramatic event. The contribution aims to propose a working methodology applicable to contexts strongly affected that will have to, necessarily integrate reconstruction with a more general urban regeneration process. Traditional local conservation and rehabilitation policies are unable to salve these structural problems, and new spatial strategies and regional plans are necessary.
