Abstract

The paper aims to provide food for thought about the declination of the executive design in the context of digital construction processes. To this end, the paper illustrates the first results of a constructive experimentation under way, carried out in the framework of an international research involving the “Eduardo Vittoria” School of Architecture and Design of Ascoli Piceno of the University of Camerino and two Japanese universities (Keio University and Kokushikan University). The experience of “digital construction” of an experimental module, result of the first research step, demonstrates how the digitalization of construction processes implies a re-coding of current design practices. Particularly in the digital construction culture, the variables related to materials and to construction and operational systems of Architecture come into play right from the early design phases. Consequence of this approach is the assumption of a new strategic dimension (as well as instrumental) of the executive design.
