Hydropriming under the lens: Digital analysis reveals key insights into lettuce seed vigor

The study "Digital and multivariate analysis of lettuce seed vigor: Impact of hydropriming on physiological potential" by Trjillo et al. demonstrates how advanced digital imaging combined with multivariate analysis offers a more precise and objective way to evaluate lettuce seed vigor, revealing the effects of hydropriming on seed quality and improving seed-lot classification.

It applies advanced digital imaging and multivariate statistical analysis to evaluate the vigor of hydroprimed lettuce seeds. By integrating SVIS® image processing with MANOVA, the researchers reveal genotype-specific responses and show that hydropriming can partially improve vigor and uniformity. The work highlights the value of digital phenotyping for more accurate seed-lot classification and decision-making in lettuce production.
