Abstract

Our aim is to examine the concepts of typification, relevances, and interpretation by following a path of inquiry that integrates the theoretical contributions of Edmund Husserl’s and Alfred Schütz’s phenomenology. We intend to outline a theoretical framework that highlights the connections and transformations between these theories, providing a useful tool for decoding the social construction of reality. Our focus will be on the mechanisms involved in the constitution of the experience of the everyday life-world, starting from typicality. To this end, we will explore the phenomenological foundations of typification, analyzing its everyday links with relevances and the stock of knowledge we use to understand social life.
