Abstract

Carlo Savonuzzi (1897–1973) was a central figure in Ferrara’s 20th-century urban transformation. A civil engineer by training, he held key public roles – including Chief Engineer of the Municipality – while also maintaining a prolific private practice. Active from the 1920s through the postwar era, Savonuzzi contributed to major urban developments such as the Aqueduct Reservoir and the ‘Quadrivio del Novecento’, and collaborated on housing and industrial projects as well. His broad expertise shaped Ferrara’s architectural identity over decades.
