Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify settlement patterns of foreign residents in the municipality of Rome and outline the developments in the period between 2007 and 2011. The analysis is related to traditional problems in the field of social research and to actual studies. In spite of the homogeneity of the distribution of foreign residents, the aim is to demonstrate how individual nationalities can present settlement pattern quite peculiar. The study is based on legal registration of residents data for 155 urban areas of the City of Rome. The results presented derive from the three nationalities selected as case studies (Romanian, Filipino and Chinese). The research delineates not only the different settlement patterns, but also allows the evolution of these patterns, even though the short time interval is being considered.
