The reception of New Arrivals in Italy fleeing war. A study of practices adopted by schools

Abstract

More than a year after the Moscow government's invasion of Ukraine, it seemed necessary to initiate a study to investigate how the New Arrivals in Italy (NAI) reception practices were implemented by Italian schools in the school year 2021/2022, following the emergency. The definition of the research theoretical framework focus on the concepts of emergency and interculture, intended as continuous processes of re-adaptation and re-organization. The data highlight the strengths and weaknesses found by the school in the reception process. The data collected about the effectiveness of the actions carried out by the school relates to what is desired and prescribed by ministerial documents. It emerges the need for a pedagogical system for the management of reception in emergency, in a circular perspective that is reflected in the theory-practice-theory nexus.

L’accoglienza dei Neo Arrivati in Italia in fuga dalla guerra. Uno studio sulle pratiche adottate dalle scuole.

A più di un anno dall’invasione dell’Ucraina da parte del governo di Mosca, si è sentita la necessità di avviare uno studio per indagare quali sono state le pratiche di accoglienza dei New Arrivals in Italy (NAI) messe in atto dalle scuole italiane nell’a. s. 2021/2022 a seguito dell’emergenza. La definizione del quadro teorico della ricerca ruota intorno ai concetti di emergenza e intercultura intesi come processi continui di ri-adattamento e ri-organizzazione. I dati mettono in luce i punti di forza e le criticità riscontrate dalla scuola nel processo di accoglienza.  Si mettono in relazione i dati raccolti in merito all’efficacia delle azioni svolte dalla scuola con quanto auspicato e prescritto dai documenti ministeriali. Emerge la necessità di un dispositivo pedagogico per la gestione dell’accoglienza in emergenza, in un’ottica circolare che trovi riscontro nel nesso teoria-prassi-teoria.
